Headquarters Relocation

The unfortunate events leading to the destruction of ICAP’s Headquarters in the World Trade Center necessitated the identification and subsequent construction of a new headquarters. ICAP had initially retained RDA as the consulting engineer for its initial move from 120 Broadway to the World Trade Center. RDA met with ICAP two days following the disaster wherein a plan was enacted for the reconstruction of a headquarters. RDA participated in the site selection and the resultant in-depth lease negotiations for Jersey City, NJ.

The project totals approximately 110,000 rentable square feet. Included in the space is a 35,000 square foot trading area housing 600 trading positions, 7,000 square foot data center, and 40,000 square feet of office spaces.

Since ICAP must operate on a mission critical 24/7 basis, the entire facility is backed up by a standby diesel generator that serves ICAP’s premises. At RDA’s insistence, major portions of the base building infrastructure are backed up by generator power as well. Adequate fuel oil storage is available for 24-hours of operation at full load. The UPS is a (2N) configuration using wet cell batteries and static transfer switches. A redundant chilled water plant in an (N+1) configuration was constructed to serve the data center, portions of the Trading Area, UPS Room and IDF Closets.

The temperature control throughout the space is via a DDC automated control system.

We are providing engineering services for the security system and telecommunications infrastructure.
